Hey everybody! I am super busy and have not, and will not (until after Minecon :D) have much free time! I wanted to get Tropicraft out before I left, however, so here you go! I will be updating the downloads page shortly. The only known bugs are: masks, flippers, and snorkels do not render properly, as I did not have time to map the proper obfuscated names to them. We have big plans for 1.7, and I will be much more active during that development, I promise! As always, I appreciate your patience, and happy tropicrafting!

Hello everyone.

For a while now, one of our developers, Mr_okushama, has been in a tight financial situation, having lost his job back in July. Yesterday, this situation only worsened, when the British government sanctioned off his minimum living allowance for reasons he doesn’t know of. This effectively shut off all sources of income for him, as he has been unable to find work. He has also refused any financial aid offered by others. Sadly, this has put huge pressure on him, as he also has to support his family.
So, I’ve decided to have a donation run to support him. If you can, please, chip in any amount by clicking the donate button on the widget below, and entering any amount. It’ll redirect you to PayPal to then do a payment. All money will be going to him (minus PayPal fees). If you can’t afford to chip in, spread the word about this. One simple tweet, retweet, post, etc. WILL make a difference. And if there are any companies out there in England looking for a programmer, throw him a job offer on twitter @Mr_okushama. Please, do anything you can to help him. Thank you.

Retweet the tweet from us!

Recently, as you can see, we’ve done an overhaul of the website’s appearance. This included a bit of optimisation on the backend to allow a faster pageload time. This hasn’t been the only change, however..
We now have bitcoin and dogecoin addresses on the left hand side! So if you ever feel as if you have too much DOGE or BTC laying around, give some to us!

Bug Fixes, B-Team, and More!

Hey everybody!

Wow, it has been quite a while since I have posted on here! I am so sorry about that, school has been crazy this semester and the rest of the team has been busy with their own mods and lives!

A few months ago something huge happened: Attack of the B-Team mod pack! We saw an incredible spike in downloads, an unprecedented amount, in fact. It has been incredibly motivating to see YouTube videos featuring our mod pop up all over the internet again, being featured in PCGamer mag, and having people around my school talk about Tropicraft. Not only have I recently really wanted to start playing Minecraft again, but I got a surge of energy that I hope will motivate me to finish updating my somewhat secret sub-mod of Tropicraft that I have been working on for some time now, which I will push into the next build of Tropicraft if all goes as planned! I am incredibly thankful for all of the support we have received from fans and hope you all will continue to support us as we get back into dev mode!

I have been asked recently if I do streams, and while I have not really done it before, I will consider doing it for the 1.7 release of Tropicraft, assuming we decide to do that (we will unless 1.8 is coming soon, which I do not think it is).

The bug fixes in 5.1.7 include:
- CRUCIAL FIX: Tropics portal no longer sets the world spawn point :D
- Koa currency is fixed, you use white pearls for trading!
- Koa traders don’t run away anymore
- Koa villagers generate in villages (sometimes they didn’t before!)
- Hopefully fixed weird ore crash with Thaumic Tinkerer
- Fixed pathfinder issues for mobs that caused issues with Attack of the B-Team

The features added in 5.1.7 include:
- Sunken ships
- Underground groves
- Finished fishing (Thanks oku!)
- Made all fishing rods obtainable (Thanks oku!)

If there are any persisting bugs or issues don’t hesitate to let us know on our github (https://github.com/Tropicraft/Tropicraft/issues?state=open) or twitter!

Thanks, and as always, happy Tropicrafting!

Current Status

Hey everybody!

I’m sorry it has been such a long time since I last posted about the current status of the mod.

In August, I began my fourth and final year of University, and fishtaco began his first. Oku and Corosus now have full time jobs that occupy all of their free time, and we are SO happy for them! They are going to go on and do amazing things, and you can all say that you knew of them before they became super famous/popular/successful/whatever they become! :)

So, where does this leave us? Well, exams are fast approaching. Around mid-December, I will be done with finals and I believe fishtaco will as well. We are going to have a full-team meeting and discuss where we want to go with the mod, and after that I will make another post talking about what will happen. For now, none of us have the motivation to get done what needs to be done, and we are especially sorry for this. It was very tough for me especially to keep everything updated, handle all the user feedback, and still keep up with my work and studies. As such, something had to get put on the backburner and unfortunately, it was Tropicraft.

As of right now, the mod is about 90% updated. We have some tribe stuff to do, some world gen stuff to do, and some items, I think. We will definitely finish this and get a solid 1.7.10 build out.

Again, I apologize for taking so long and keeping everybody (unintentionally) in the dark. I am always available on Twitter or email if you ever want to get in contact me with any questions / concerns you may have. I wish all of you the best, and will try to keep you updated as much as I possibly can!

Thank you for understanding, and as always, happy Tropicrafting!

WE HAVE RETURNED!

Hey everybody!

I want to apologize for the update taking so long. Back in August, 2014 I had the mod about 90% updated, but then I came back to my last year of university and got overwhelmed with work. I lost the motivation to mod because MInecraft had updated again and modding these days is literally just having to write the same code over and over and over again, expecting the same result. It’s literally the definition of insanity. This past weekend Corosus visited me and over the span of two nights we did an insane amount of code and knocked out most of the remaining features that needed to be added, though we had to remove some due to time constraints so we could get you all a mostly finished mod.

Here is where you all come in. Tonight or tomorrow, I will make our repository open source. If anybody notices a bug, you can report it on our issue tracker ( https://github.com/Tropicraft/Tropicraft/issues ). I can’t promise we will be quick about fixing bugs, as I graduate university in ~3 weeks and am simultaneously trying to start a company, but I promise we will do our best. If you are also interested in contributing to the Tropicraft repository and would like to help us with development, find us in our IRC channel!

It has been a long ride, and I’m sorry for the wait. But now you all can enjoy 1.7.10 with a new tropical paradise. I hope you enjoy the stay! :)
